ARABESQUES is the signature of Thomas Barthélemy and Paul-André Péchenard.
Our craft, developed and perfected over many years, enables us to act is the following domains:

• Restoration and conservation •
• Our first priority is to conserve the integrity of the works we are restoring. Thus, by respecting its history and by endeavoring to transmit it to the future generations, we have gained our clients confidence, whether institutions, such as museums and organizations for the protection of Historical Monuments and "Mobilier National", or individuals, such as private collectors or important antique dealers.

• We still use today the same instruments and products that cabinetmakers have been using since the 17th century. Nowadays, to perfect our restoration and remain in accordance with the ethics of our profession, linked to that of the museums, we in certain cases call upon a laboratory specialized in the analysis and the conservation of materials. This cooperation allows up to adapt our intervention and to conserve all the meaning of the work of art, but also to rediscover in certain cases methods that have been lost and forgotten in the course of history.


• Cabinetmaking •
• Our mastery of traditional cabinetmaking and knowledge of the various trades related to it (sculpture, marquetry, gilding, bronze, ironwork, etc..) lead us, on the one hand, to adapt and install ancient wood panelling in ancient and or modern styles. On the other hand, we also design and construct contemporary furniture imagined by architects or designers, as well as copies of old or antique pieces of furniture.ns.

Advising on furniture investments
Our purpose is not give an expertise of furniture and evaluate its market value. Our goal is to inform potential buyers about the exact authenticity of the piece they are interested in buying. A great number of "fakes" are in circulation today and remain difficult to detect. Our eye is the eye of an expert, a cabinetmaker who has extensive experience in taking furniture apart. This empirical knowledge has taught us to see the difference between the true and the false. We can write up a report, accompanied by photos, within half a day following our examination of an object, and transmit it to you via E-mail, enabling you receive it immediately, in color.
We can also, on request, send you a photo brochure demonstrating specific restoration procedures carried out on furniture or panelling, to familiarize you with our workshop and help you understand the nature of our professional methods.
