Franz LISZT (1811-1886), Hungarian composer and pianist.

ALS to Giovanni Ricordi in Milan, in French. Postmarked from Geneva, the 12 of august 1838. 1p in 8°, plus facing integral address-leaf.

Very nice letter regarding the publishing by Ricordi of Liszt's piano arrangement of several of Schubert's songs :
"Two words only today (without postscripts and even without explanation relating to those devilish melodies of Schubert's of which you will not sell even 3 copies, God willing !)".
He announces that he will be leaving for Milan with the Countess d'Agoult. Nice letter !

MATA HARI Margareta Zelle known as (1876-1917), dancer and spy, she was executed.

Autograph letter signed "Marguerita Zelle Mc Leod", with letterhead from the "Hotel Plaza Athénée", dated from Paris, January 11th [1917] to the Count of Limburg Stirum. 4p in 12°. Enveloppe. Small tears.

Nice and scarce letter dated a few days before she was arrested by the French Services. She thanks the Count for his best wishes and hopes that these wishes will "help the wheel of fortune turn for her into a more favourable position". A few weeks later, on February 13th, 1917 she was arrested, convinced of spying for the enemy and condemned on July 25th, 1917. Her execution took place in Vincennes in October 1917. We provide the copy of her execution report saying that she refused to let them band her eyes... ! Very scarce piece of collection !
