About Thomas-Scheler
Established in 1932, Librairie Thomas-Scheler is located between the Sénat and the Odéon, in the heart of Saint Germain des Prés, the famous Quartier Latin.
The shop was run by Lucien Scheler, a friend of Paul Eluard, Picasso and the Surréalistes poets and painters, until 1977 when he sold the company to his assistant since 1962, Bernard Clavreuil.
Bernard Clavreuil belongs to the third generation of a family of antiquarian booksellers established in the Latin Quarter since the end of the 19th century. He has been running the shop at 19 rue de Tournon for over 20 years, which was his grandfather's before World War I.
Thanks to our relentless pursuit to find rare books in France, Europe, and abroad, Librairie Thomas-Scheler has become now one the leading antiquarian bookshops in the world, where curators and bookmen meet to find the items missing in their collections. Since 1990, his son Stéphane, the fourth generation, has entered the business, working with his father.

The THOMAS-SCHELER Bookshop is member of the Syndicat National de la Librairie Ancienne et Moderne (SLAM) and member of the Ligue Internationale du Livre Ancien (ILAB).
The THOMAS-SCHELER Bookshop is member of the Syndicat National des Antiquaires.
The THOMAS-SCHELER Bookshop takes part in the great exhibitions of bibliophily and is present at the Biennale Internationale des Antiquaires.
Bernard CLAVREUIL is also Expert, member of the Syndicat Français des Experts Professionnels.
